Relegation Panic as Chippa United Dismiss Fourth Manager

Chippa United have plunged into further chaos after axing Vusumuzi Vilakazi with just three matches remaining.

A 3-1 loss to Sekhukhune United proved the final straw for Chairman Siviwe Mpengesi, who has now overseen four coaching changes this term. This latest exit follows a dismal run of five games without a victory, leaving the club 13th and hovering precariously above the bottom four.

The instability at the Eastern Cape outfit is historic; Vilakazi’s 18-match stint follows the short-lived tenures of Sinethemba Badela and Luc Eymael. Even the sporting director was recently let go.

The club’s predicament is now critical, as the gap to the drop zone has shrunk significantly, leaving the side just two points clear of danger.

Assistant Hlanga Dikeni is now tasked with navigating a brutal final run against TS Galaxy, Golden Arrows, and Kaizer Chiefs. With the season ending in less than a fortnight, Chippa United must find immediate cohesion to preserve their top-flight status.

The threat of the relegation play-offs looms large as the “Chilli Boys” face a desperate fight to stay up.
